Hyundai i20
Rishabh Pant stood out in the 2016 Under-19 World Cup, making 267 runs in the match against Namibia. His exceptional performance helped India secure a spot in the semi-finals in 6 matches and propelled the southpaw into a new phase of his career. IPL teams Delhi Daredevils and Mumbai Indians locked horns in a fierce bidding war over Pant during the IPL 2016 auction. Delhi Daredevils won and signed Rishabh for ₹1.9 crore.
Early in his career, Pant’s mother would travel with him to the various matches he played across the country. In an interview with Indian Express, Rishabh stated, “My mother would not even sleep in the bus. Night bus journeys in India aren’t safe for women but she would make sure I get some sleep before practice.” He would usually travel in interstate buses, which could be one of the reasons why he bought a car with his first IPL salary.
In the same interview, Rishabh expressed that he wanted to buy a house and car with his paycheck. He stated that he didn’t know much about which car he wanted to buy or how much cars are supposed to cost. The first car to join the Rishabh Pant car collection was a Hyundai i20, for purely sentimental reasons.
Sonnet club coach Devender Sharma accompanied him to the car dealership, and Pant drove his car directly to the cricket ground, something he would continue to do with each of his new cars. The southpaw would later go on to share that he harboured a fascination for the i20; perhaps he had encountered the car during his childhood and it had managed to leave an impression on him. He stated that he always knew his first car would be a Hyundai i20, regardless of how much money he made in the future.

Mercedes-Benz GLC
Rishabh made his Twenty20 international debut in January 2017. He continued to deliver a stellar performance in 2017, amassing 366 runs in 14 matches in the tenth IPL edition. After a highly successful IPL season, the cricketer added another car to the Rishabh Pant car collection. Rishabh Pant bought his first luxury car, a Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV, in 2017. The car was reportedly priced between ₹80 lakh-₹1.80 crore back then.
The car in the above post is widely believed to be the same Mercedes-Benz that Pant crashed in 2022. However, the dates don’t match up—Rishabh bought a GLC in 2017, and the car that was involved in the accident was a GLE that was registered in 2019. We can only conclude that since there were no images of Rishabh’s GLE available online, his blue GLC was mistakenly assumed to be the one from the accident.
Did You Know?
Rishabh has a cheerful demeanor and is well-liked due to his humble behaviour and warm friendliness. He is also quite the prankster. Pant revealed in an interview with The Week magazine that his greatest prank was waking up a player at 2:30 am and convincing him that it was the next day and everyone had left without him and were waiting in the bus. The player hastily showered and dressed, only realizing that he was being pranked right before he left. Pant states, ‘I can never forget the look on his face.’
Audi A8
Rishabh would also go on to reportedly buy an Audi A8 in 2017. This car is sporty yet sleek, with premium comfort features and an air of luxury we can only associate with high-end German cars. It promised a smooth ride and refined handling.
The A8 was a full-size luxury sedan with premium features like massage seats; a large three-screen digital setup for the dashboard, centre console, and instrument cluster; cabin heating and air conditioning; ventilated seats; air quality control; a cooled glovebox; and more. The now-discontinued Audi A8 has a last recorded price of ₹1.58 crore. It was available in a single petrol variant. There are no pictures of Rishabh Pant’s Audi A8 online.

Ford Mustang GT
In 2018, the cricketer gained even more popularity and a higher pay package. The Delhi Daredevils increased Rishabh Pant IPL salary to ₹8 crore. He debuted in One Day International (ODI) in October 2018 and gained a spot on the Forbes Celebrity 100 list in 2019.
In 2019, the southpaw bought his first and only American muscle car. The yellow Ford Mustang GT in the Rishabh Pant car collection was a head-turner in his neighbourhood. He isn’t the only cricketer who has gravitated towards the Mustang; cricketers Ishan Kishan, Karun Nair, Ambati Rayudu, and MS Dhoni all own Ford Mustangs. Rishabh rarely drove his Mustang and was spotted pretty often in his Benz instead. Since the Rishabh Pant car collection includes three luxury SUVs, we can conclude that he is drawn to sturdy yet luxurious cars.
The Mustang is an outlier—it’s a sporty car but not a sports car. It was more affordable than other luxury sports cars, with an on-road price of less than ₹1 crore. The Mustang is one of Ford’s most recognizable and iconic models and has been in production for over 59 years.
Overseas, the Mustang was always positioned as an affordable yet sporty muscle car but they were always slightly overpriced in India since they were imported as completely built units. Mustangs still have a huge fan following in India, and ever since Ford ceased production in the country, the remaining models have been highly sought after. Rishabh would have paid approximately ₹74.61 lakh for his Ford Mustang GT.
Mercedes-Benz GLE 43 AMG
The most famous Rishabh Pant car, the cricketer’s Mercedes-Benz GLE SUV has gained notoriety ever since it was involved and completely destroyed in a horrific car accident. Some fans believe that the car’s safety systems might have saved Pant’s life; the cricketer’s injuries were severe but not life-threatening, and he was extremely lucky not to suffer any.
The Mercedes-Benz GLE 43 AMG is now discontinued in India and cost approximately ₹1.03 crore at the time of purchase. Pant’s car with the number plate DL10CN1717 was registered in Delhi in 2019 and held valid car insurance but an expired PUCC. It has now been scrapped and is no longer part of the Rishabh Pant car collection. Prior to the accident, Rishabh had been fined for overspeeding twice.
On 30 December 2022, Rushabh was driving from Delhi to his hometown, Roorkee, when he was involved in a near-fatal crash on the Delhi-Dehradun highway. At 5:30 am, the blue Mercedes began skidding and crashed into a divider, ending up in the opposite lane. He was promptly rescued by bus driver Sushil Kumar and conductor Paramjeet Singh, assisted by villagers who had arrived on the scene by then.
Sushil Kumar immediately noticed that something was wrong and said that while he expected the crash, he did not expect the car to catch fire. After Rishabh was pulled out of the car, the fire intensified and the car exploded. Rishabh was conscious and aware after being rescued and even introduced himself to his rescuers; both did not know who he was. They would later refuse state honours and comment that they would’ve helped anyone in that situation, regardless of who they were.
Though his condition was stable, Rishabh had sustained several injuries: a ligament tear on his right knee, two cuts on his forehead, abrasions on his back, and injuries to his right wrist, ankle, and toe.
The incident was at the centre of online speculation; the local police officers who reached the crash site state that he had dozed off while sleeping, while others believe that the accident was caused by reckless overspeeding. Some even believe that he may have been driving under the influence, though there isn’t any evidence to support this statement. Rishabh had been driving to Roorkee to surprise his mother ahead of the new year.

Rishabh’s father passed away just one day before his IPL match in Bangalore. His death came as a shock to the family. Rishabh made the difficult decision to play the IPL game against Royal Challenger Bangalore, stating that that was what his father would have wanted him to do. His coaches, Tarak Sinha and Devender Sharma, supported his decision.
Rishabh would later reveal that while his father’s death left him devastated, he wanted to stay strong for his family and continue to make his father proud.

Land Rover Defender 110
The cricketer added a new car to the Rishabh Pant car collection just before the T20 World Cup. He was spotted in a white Land Rover Defender 110 while arriving at the Mumbai airport to join the rest of the T20I team. The Land Rover Defender price in India is ₹1.04 crore to ₹1.42 crore.
The Defender 110 is a unique SUV as it combines extreme off-road capabilities with high-end luxury. It can withstand harsh conditions and across terrain like rocks, snow, and water. It is also equipped with useful tech like a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, a 10-inch infotainment display, a head-up display, a wireless charger, etc.
The Land Rover Defender 110 is also highly popular due to its safety features. It has a five-star Euro-NCAP safety rating and important off-road systems like 3D surround-view cameras, blind spot assist, adaptive cruise control, traction control, hill-decent control, lane assist, traffic sign recognition, and more.
